Head into North Canterbury and take a step into the past by boarding the historical trains of The Weka Pass Railway. The train will take you across flat farmland and passes a large irrigation reservoir and vineyards, before climbing grades as steep as 1:50 ( 2%) as it winds through the cuttings in the Pass. Where the surrounding limestone rocks have weathered into unusual shapes. Most notable are Frog Rock and Seal Rock, in the middle of the Weka Pass.
Then head to Flaxmere Gardens for a guided tour and lunch. Flaxmere Gardens has been made a Garden of International Significance by the New Zealand Garden Trust which is affiliated to the Royal New Zealand Institute of Horticulture and given the rating of 6 stars. Situated near the Southern Alps, Flaxmere has developed into a stunning example of a garden that evolves with the seasons, splendid throughout the year.
Transport to and from Weka Pass Railway and Flaxmerer Gardens. Tickets to board trains and entry to Flaxmere Gardens including guided tour and lunch.

Trains operate on the first and third Sundays of each month, and on selected public and school holidays, early bookings are essential. Christchurch Shuttles & Tours operate alongside third-party operators and all tours are subject to availability.
